Under 11's. Division 5. Away v Hazel Grove

Result - Reddish North End 1 Hazel Grove 2
This was a classic game of
two halves, we had the most of the play in the first half. Lewis Marley looks
like he will become a good player in this team but only if he keeps focused, he
worked himself hard and was unlucky not to score.
We got the breakthrough with a brilliant pass from Lewis Wheatcroft to Josh on
the left wing who went on a run from the halfway line, I must admit I wanted him
to cross the ball to our strikers but he made a good decision and ran to the
edge of groves box and shot to score a really good goal.
Lewis Marley got the ball kicked at him where it hurts so I put Alex on because we were the better team at this point and to give him a chance to see what he can do for this team, half time came and all the lads were tired with the heat. we were winning 1-0.
Second half:
I made some more changes to the team bringing on Kyle to give him a chance
up-front and putting Pat and Mike in midfield, and moving the defence around a
little. Grove did come at us a bit more than they did in the first half, they
got a lucky break when one of their forwards just shot from outside the area,
Aaron looked as if he had it covered but the ball went under him and into the
net, Grove were very lucky.
I don't put blame on Aaron because how many times has he saved us from going
behind? loads!!
The midfielders had a great game with Lewis W and Declan forming a good
partnership and improving with every game.
Nathan is doing a great job for us on the right wing. The defence are improving
aswell with Brandon back in after his short break last week, his pace will save
us on lots more occasions I'm sure. I was also pleased with some of the team who
won headers that were there to be won.
Grove got their winner from the pressure we let them put on us, when we should
have made a clearance, their forward moved into space, got the ball and shot
high into the net. He should have been closed down a lot quicker.
I put Lewis M and Henry back on to see if they could get a well deserved equaliser but they couldn't manage it.
Ian and I are confident that this team will get better and pick up the wins that they deserve, we will not be tinkering with the team as much if we are winning in matches, in future all the players will have to work hard in training and come to the matches with the right frame of mind.
Scorers : Josh (1)
Man of the match : Brandon
