Under 11's. Metro Cup Round 2. Away v West End Juniors

Result - Reddish North End 1 West End Juniors 5

Well, the scoreline speaks for itself. We came to this game with a previous 3 match unbeaten run, but our last game being 6 weeks ago seemed to really show that today.

We looked a different team from recent months and never really got going. We were outplayed by West End Juniors, they battled harder, competed for the ball more, closed us down very quickly, played a nice passing game and looked composed.

We were under pressure for 90% of the game and, although we were well below our normal standards and taking into account West End are a division 1 team, credit goes to West End, they looked a great side and punished us.
Maybe on a different day and us playing our game, we probably would give a better account of ourselves.

We were 2 goals down at half time and it could have been a lot more, for many weeks our defence have taken control at the back leaving Aaron with not much to do, however, today our keeper Aaron was outstanding and needed to be, saving us countless times when we just couldn't clear the ball. Man of the match without a doubt in the first half.

Second half we were a bit more hopeful, with the low sun behind us we came out and we got stuck in a bit more.
We had a 1 or 2 moments in their penalty area and within 5 minutes a loose ball found Lewis M who lobbed it over the keeper, 2 - 1.
Within 2 minutes from the restart West End started to play as they did in the first half and scored again. From then on our lads heads were down, it was one way traffic and West End scored another 2.

Working hard in training and the games to come, we will get back up to standard.

Scorers : Lewis M (1)
