Under 12's. Home v Clayton Villa

Result - Reddish North End 0 Clayton Villa 11

Well as you can see down to earth for the team. And not even with a bump, more a shuddering crash as our worst performance since we travelled to Wythenshawe last December saw us get comprehensively beaten.

Clayton have made toast with all their opponents so far this season and once they got their noses in front I felt that the team, already psychologically on the back foot, gave up too easily.
It is a tough one for the boys because they will all feel they’ve let themselves down today. We didn’t compete with nearly enough determination, one or two players were notably poor, and numerous defensive errors cost us time and again.
Had we played really well and still lost, it would have felt better in some ways but worse in others – and at least we know why today’s result ended as it did, because we were just nothing like.

But I must give Clayton the credit they deserve for a very efficient performance, they moved the ball well and just wanted it more.
It looked like they had 15 players on the pitch at times. However, there’s no undoing what has happened so the team have got to move on and learn from this experience. And if games like this give them a feeling they don’t want to have again, it’s not all bad news.

Let’s also remember the team have still made a great start to the season. If we would have known that we would have won four out of our first five matches everyone would have settled for that. We won’t play Clayton every week and next time out the boys have got to find their best form quickly and get their confidence back, and I am sure they can do this.

Our run of home games continues next week when North Manchester Boys visit.
