Under 16's. Cup match - Away v Alderley Edge Druids
Result - Reddish North End 1 Alderley Edge Druids 4
This cup match was played on a bitterly cold Sunday morning in not very pleasant conditions.
However both
teams played some excellent football.
It was the proverbial game of two halves. The Alderley team played the first
half with a gale force wind at their backs. The Reddish defence stood resolute
with Michael Watling playing as a stand in keeper in fine form.
Jordan
Hopkins and Rob Fowell were solid at the back.
The deadlock was broken late in the first half by Alderley. Reddish responded
immediately with a splendid goal well taken by the returning Danny Jackson. The
wind abated in the second half giving Reddish no advantage. The driving rain
continued – What Sunday Football is all about!
Our boys
finally succumbed to the dominant first division outfit but not without a fight.
Phil Kinder was outstanding, tackling and flooring guys twice his size. If
medals were given for bravery Phil would win Gold.
So we take no further part in this season’s cup competition but hopefully we can start getting back some of our regulars and start pushing up the table.
Scorers : Danny Jackson
Man of the match : Mike Watling. Phil Kinder
