Under 16's. Home v Hillgate Boys
Result - Reddish North End 2 Hillgate Boys 2
The Reddish revival continued in front a capacity crowd at North Reddish Park. The boys in blue continued from where they left off last week.
In perfect playing conditions they played a brand of football which outclassed the league leaders. Alan Birchall opened up the opposing defence with a blind side run getting in between the 2 centre halves. Finishing with a well placed lob past the advancing keeper.
Two minutes later, Parky played a lovely weighted through ball into the path of the advancing Dornio whose delightful chip beat the Hillgate keeper but dropped tantalisingly the wrong side of the bar.
The second half started at a frantic pace and didn’t drop until the final whistle. Captain Jordy Hopkins and Ryan Kessibah won every header and every tackle in an evenly matched contest. The opposition proved why they are the league favourites with two opportunist goals.
Injuries have
plagued the under 16s this season. Once again we lost the influential Ant Parky
and Dave Clegg-Tyrer.
Still, the Boys from Reddish never gave in. The tireless Tom Barr and John
Traynor who is almost back to his pre-injury level worked really hard all
afternoon.
Reward was in the shape of a well crafted move down the right where Dornio curled a peach of a cross for Antony Parkinson–Leigh to rise at the far post to head home. John Traynor was booked for a ‘one man pitch invasion’ to celebrate our second goal.
