Match Report: Andy Johnson
This week Reddish had a break from the league but there would be no rest for the players as they had to face a tricky Bramhall North side that are doing very well in the Fifth Division of this league. The game kicked off and had started off at a high pace. Bramhall created the first goal scoring opportunity but Zac and Khaleal were equal to the threat, blocking out any chance they had. Reddish counter-attacked and Zac went very close to scoring after his long-range effort struck the woodwork. Reddish had complete control of the match but they couldn’t find the back of the net with Bramhall defending so well. That all changed when Dillon H broke the deadlock by scoring a cracking goal. He hit the ball on the half volley, from outside the box, which ended in the right hand corner of the net. 1-0.
Bramhall tried to reply before half time but RNEs defence tracked back well, Chris B forcing their attack wide, who made a quick shot, which was easily gathered up by Joe. It stayed 1-0 and when the whistle blew for the break RNEs player came in happy with their performance so far.
HALF TIME: 1-0.
When the second half kicked off, Dillon H continued to cause the Bramhall defence a few nightmares as he tried to create more opportunities. One of his runs down the wing eventually landed at Khaleals feet, who could only slice his shot wide of the post. Although Reddish were dominating the match Bramhall still managed to create a chance of their own. Emi made a brilliant tackle after they were through on goal momentarily.
Reddish started to look more and more confident as the game went on and, after a fantastic team move; James finally made his mark on match. The ball moved from the defence to attack effortlessly, which ended up at James’ feet. He made no mistake and stuck the ball in the top corner. 2-0.
More or less straight from the restart Emi cleared the ball with a thumping kick. The ball travelled all the way down the pitch and James brought it down with one touch, which he ruthlessly put past the on rushing goalkeeper. 3-0. A couple of minutes later James completed his hat trick, which all but ended Bramhalls chances of progressing. 4-0.
As the game neared an end Emi had to produce another superb tackle to keep the clean sheet for Reddish. The final whistle was greeted with cheers from the home crowd. Maybe this could be the start to a great cup run, I’m sure the players will have one eye on the draw for the next round. See you in the next round.
