Match Report: Andy Johnson
In reply to last weeks win, RNE continued their great start to the season with a 4-1 win against Inter Macc JFC Warriors in their first away match of the season.
RNE applied some early pressure with Khaleal crossing from the left and James going close. Dillon H forced a good save from Inter Macc's goalkeeper as RNE continued their pressure. The defense also stood strong as they made some very important tackles to keep the score level. Khaleal then broke the deadlock with a great finish from a through ball (which was celebrated by a brilliant somersault). 0-1.
Dilllon H was unlucky not to make it 2-0 from a tight angle after the goalkeeper saved brilliantly from James' shot. Emi and Chris O kept it tight at the back, tracking back well and keeping Inter Macc at bay. Khaleal then showed some great skill and quick feet ending up winning a free-kick. Inter Macc's defenders cleared off the line to keep the score 0-1 and Khaleal also went close again, hitting his shot wide after some great work down the wing from Dillon H. The score remained 0-1 for half time with RNE going in for a well earned rest.
Half Time - 0-1
RNE, in a confident mood, kept up the pressure from the first half resulting in the second goal. James scored after a through ball from Dillon H, although Inter Macc's keeper was unlucky after he got a hand to it, but the power proved too much. 0-2.
Inter Macc reply, almost instantly, from a well worked free-kick leaving Joe no chance in goals. 1-2.
Another instant reply, this time from RNE, as some great build up play produced a great goal from super-sub Jack, lifting the ball effortlessly over the keeper. 1-3.
RNE's defence still looked strong after some pressure from Inter Macc. Emi then unleashed a thunderbolt after James' lay off putting RNE in a very comfortable position. 1-4.
RNE started to look confident as the skills came out. Khaleal, James and Kane all creating good chances. After engineering these opportunities RNE were awarded a penalty. Khaleal with a superb run, rounding the keeper before being brought down. Kane stepped up but the keeper made a fantastic save to keep the score down. More chances were created as James hit the side-netting and Khaleal had another penalty turned down by the referee (to the dismay of the supporters).
The final whistle brought about cheers from the players and crowd as RNE continued their great start.
The goalkeeper and defence stood strong, the midfield created chances and the attack produced goals which RNE will hope to take to the forthcoming match against Richmond Rovers. See you there.
