Result - Reddish North End 0 Wythenshawe 4

Match Report: James Emmerson
After such a long break – this was our first game in six weeks – this was a very disappointing way to start 2010. Being honest, the scoreline flattered us, as Wythenshawe missed some golden chances in the second half to score several more times.
Strangely, we only lost the second half 1-0, despite our visitors dominance. At the break we were 3-0 down having started off well and creating a couple of promising openings. We went behind to a terrific long range strike but then gifted them two goals through silly mistakes, a lack of composure costing us dearly.
We did have some chances in the second period; one was cleared off the line and another really good chance fell to Jamie who unfortunately couldn’t finish. But most of the action was in and around our box, and a combination of some good goalkeeping and defending, poor finishing, and a fair slice of luck as post and bar were rattled numerous times, meant that Wythenshawe thoroughly deserved their win.
In fairness we missed one of our most influential players today, Callum Barlow being unavailable. I was pleased with keeper Callum & the defenders who all had good games, but we were well off the pace in midfield and were thus under the cosh too often.

Back to basics is my message, and mark my words boys, we will be!
