Match Report: Alan Birchall

1st game

Team: Nico, James, Dylan, Matthew, Keith, Callum, Alfie, Jacob.

This was the soccer school's first ever game v Droylsden Juniors soccer school. we played 8 aside with 10 mins each way.

Although it was like looking at ants at times, with all the players surrounding the ball ,kicking the ball and each other at times, it was still a joy to watch. when the ball did break loose to Alfie and Keith they ran forwards to try and score but Droylsdens defence wasn't going to let them get too near to their goal without  fighting for the ball, there was a few Fouls in the game from both sides , it was after such a foul from Droylsden that we got the first ever goal for our NEW under 7's Team. Keith took the freekick and slotted the ball home from a powerful shot low into the net.

With some good talking  at half-time .the boys started to play some good football at times passing to each other but sometimes tackling each other. with lots of training they will learn to spread out and let the nearest player tackle the opposition. Droylsden did get a lucky break when 1 of their players scored past an unlucky Nico, who did really well in his first ever game. But with this team we did have the players to get back in the lead, after some good determined football from the defenders the ball found its way into the Droylsdens area and after lots of scrappy play from both teams the ball looked as if it was going to be picked up by Droylsdens Keeper but up popped Alfie to stick out a foot to put the ball into the net to make it 2-1 to RNE, to the delight of all the supporters. The final whistle went a couple of minuets later.

Scorers: Keith (1) Alfie (1)

2nd game

This game was played against a mix Droylsdens New players and players that have been with them for a while.

We got off to a great start from a good goal from Keith, but Droylsden scored to make it 1-1 at half time with some of the players feeling the cold, the game did get hard at times for the rest of the lads. Jacob got more into this game running down both wings at times and making some good passes to Keith and Alfie. Callum went off because he felt the cold after Diving onto the muddy pitch by accident and getting kicked by the ball into his face. He will be a good player when he gets older but we must all remember he is only 4 years old.
James scored a good goal to make it 2-1 to RNE but with only a minute to go Droylsden scored the equaliser to make the final score 2-2.
A mention must go to Nico who was feeling the cold but was very brave again in this game to make some great saves.

The rest of the lads did well today, it may not have been fast flowing football but they will learn the more experience they get from playing these types of games and from the encouragement from all the parents.

Scorers Keith (1) James (1)
