Away v Queensgate

Result - First Game. Reddish North End 2 Queensgate A 2

Result - Second Game. Reddish North End 5 Queensgate B 2

Match Report: Alan Birchall

1st game v Queensgate A side.

Starting line up. Liam G, Cameron, Chris, Alex, Regan, Lewis, Callum.

Same as the last week we were very competitive in this game with Chris, Cameron and Regan getting stuck in, with every 50-50 ball being won most of the time.
Lewis on the left had a good game also Alex on the right and with striker Callum scoring 2. One goal coming from a goalkeeping mistake, the Queensgate goalie kicking the ball right to Callum who hit it first time over the keepers head, this is not an easy skill, well done Callum, you deserved your man of the match award.

Liam G was solid in goal but Queensgate deserved their Draw, they have improved since the last time we played them.

Scorers: Callum (2)

Man of the match: Callum.

2nd game v Queensgate B side.

Starting Line up. Liam G, Liam M, Max, Luca, Alex, Jaden, Sammy, Josh.

This game turned out to be very competitive, not only on the pitch but also off it. I say this because it seemed that Queensgate had an extra player on the pitch (The Referee). The game started in the right spirit with all the players from both sides competing fairly.
Queensgate were on the attack down the left, the ball was crossed in and the ball bounced up and hit Max on the hand, it was clearly Ball to Hand but the ref gave a penalty! I was incensed with rage but I kept my composure (I think).
As always up steps Liam Griffiths in goal, the Queensgate forward took the pen but Liam G made a great save, justice done. I was determined that the players would win this game after the penalty, I don't like biased referees.

Josh scored the first goal but Queensgate got 2 back, 1 from a freekick which I wasn't happy about because we were too slow to mark the players. We will work on our defensive play in training. With the score at 2-1 with 10 minutes left I made some subs. On came Callum and Regan, with Luca moving up into the strikers position and me shouting play as a team. Jaden got a head from a cross to level the score then went on to score again to make it 3-2 to Reddish. Callum scored a good goal as usual to make it 4-2 to Reddish.

Then the ref made what I consider to be another mistake, he awarded us a penalty, same as the one he gave Queensgate. What I thought was a case of ball to hand, anyway we accepted it, even stevens. Every one of the players were shouting "can I take it" which is good to hear because it tells us they are confident in their own ability. There was only one player I could give it to and that was Jaden, he was pleased as punch to get his chance of his 1st hatrick, but would he put it away or would the Queensgate keeper match Liam G's save? Jaden slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net with the confidence of a pro! 5-2 to Reddish. Jaden got the man of the match award for his headed goal and his teamwork. (I have been waiting ages for one of the players to score with a header) well done boys

Scorers: Jaden (3) Josh (1) Callum (1)

Man of the match: Jaden
