Well the new season is upon us, cant you just tell by the weather changing for the worse, just as the season starts!

The first match reports are now on the website (those that have been submitted)

Just a reminder of how and when to get your match reports in:

You can send them in any Microsoft word format or email type, in "Verdana font" preferably size 10.

Don't forget to state whether you were Home or Away (Yes we have one already that does not mention this) The date you played
and of course who you played.

Please get your reports in by the Tuesday following your weekend game. This gives us all 2 - 3 days to put something together and get them uploaded. As last season, due to my own work commitments which I'm sure you are all aware of, I will update the website once a week on my only night off - Tuesday evening/night.

Lastly, don't forget, photos are most welcome but please refer to our previous news post below dated 31st July with full details regarding
photo's for the website. Oh, and get a photo of your squad for the team page!

That's it till next week, good luck to all our teams this coming weekend.. Cheers - Rob

Unicorn tournament by Alan Birchall

We arrived early on sunday morning but the weather was a bit cooler than saturday but got hotter as the day went on.

Our 1 st game against Urmston Meadowside ended with a 3-0 loss, we didnt play well in the 1st game but the lads promised to buck their ideas up for the rest of the group games, the 2nd game against Unicorn C ended with our 1st win, our 3rd game ended with a 0-0 draw but our 4th game ended with our 2nd win this was against Broadheath, we went into our last game needing another win to finish 3rd in our group and see us through into the knockout stage, we won 2-0 against Unicorn A.

We won our Quater final to see us play against Middleton Boys in the semi final, the lads went onto the pitch with the instruction to close them down quickly and not to let them have a shot on target, All the players did their bit, they played Brilliant football, the fulltime whistle blew the game ended 0-0, we played 3 mins extra time which we won 1-0 with a great shot forwards into the Middleton area and Charlie managed to get a touch which saw the ball fly into the net. Alex W and i didnt expect to get to the Final after the start we had but here we were against Umrston meadowside Again but in the Final.

Before the final started i promised all the players that they would take some part in the game, which they all did except Thomas who wasn't feeling well, The lads did themselves and this football club proud, we played exactly the same as against Middleton, closing down quickly and creating lots of chances, but after fulltime and then extra time we had to settle the game with penalties, we started the shootout but managed to miss, then meadowside took theirs and also missed, after 5 pens each it was 2-2, sudden death, we scored they scored and on and on it went until Luca scored and Liam G saved from an Urmston effort, i must admit i didn't expect to win this Tournament after the start but i know this bunch of lads very well , and one things sure ,they will fight till the end to get their just rewards, the lads were presented Medals and a Big Trophy.
Well done Lads. Alan.

16/7/11 Under 10's

NEW MILLS 3-3 REDDISH NORTH END
NEW MILLS 1-1 REDDISH NORTH END

Two good games played in the right spirit but I am struggling to understand how we didn't win them both!
The first game started well enough and we were 2-0 up quite quickly with Sam and Kirk scoring the goals. New Mills pulled one back to make it 2-1 at Halftime.
Leighton then scored with a neat flick from a corner and 3-1 up with about 10 minutes left we looked very comfortable indeed however the lads switched off and some poor defending let New Mills in and they grabbed the equaliser with the last kick of the game!
The second game was one-way traffic, we dominated however we went in at halftime 1-0 down. George Hibbs scored the equaliser and we would have won if it wasn't for some great goalkeeping from the opposition keeper!
A good run out and some great passing play from the midfielders in both games, basic errors at the back have cost us today but,
we can work on that in training!!!

Under 8's Yellow

Match report tournament 16th July 2011.
We Played in the tournament : won 1, drew 1 and lost 3.  We lost our games because of silly mistakes which we all have leant from, I was so impressed with some of the moves we made, and hearing other parents from different teams praise our lads the way we played football, (at least their trying to play the game properly on the deck). I cant name all of the lads, but Tom Gough and Dylan Graham proved to me they want to play and work hard for their team. Well done lads. Dom
