MATCH REPORT U-10 BLUES 21-4-12

Reddish North End Blues 9-0 FC Bluestar - Man of the Match - Dylan M/Oliver C

A great result, plenty of goals (Oliver S 2, Dylan M 2, Dylan B, Kirk, Oliver C, Jack D and an OG) giving us a comfortable win.

It was good to see so many different goalscorers and the passing and movement was a lot better than in recent weeks, man of the match was Dylan Madden followed closely by Oliver Cash, both lads were half time subs but when they came on they both had great games, Dylan scoring two beauties and you know what you get with Cashy, 100% effort and commitment and today he was rewarded with a fine goal.

That's the end of the 7 a side now and a good finish to the season from both teams. Well done lads!

MATCH REPORT U10 BLUES - 31/03/12

Droylsden 3-0 Reddish North End Blues - Man of the Match - Harry

A defeat but we battled well against excellent opposition.
The first two goals could have been avoided but apart from a few moments here and there, we were second best today.

At one point I thought Droylsden had more players on the pitch than us as their passing was superb and we were chasing shadows for most of the game! Man of the match was Harry, he battled well and was unlucky with a shot in the second half that hit the post.

Not to worry though, there is no shame in losing to a team like Droylsden and at least the lads showed a bit of spirit and effort and didn't roll over like they did in the 0-5 defeat at our place!

MATCH REPORT U10 BLUES - 24/03/12

Inter Macc 0-2 Reddish North End Blues - Man of the Match - Jake Atkins

After last weeks disappointing performance the lads bounced back in style with a great win against strong opposition.

Goals from Kirk & Harry sealed the victory but this was an excellent performance from all the lads and whilst the football wasn't the best at times (due to the bumpy pitch and red hot weather) we got stuck in and deserved the victory.

The lads at the back were immense and Harry, Jake & Kirk caused the Macc defence plenty of problems.

Man of the match was Jake, not just for his attacking play but his all round game was superb. He tracked back when needed and his crossing was great, something that we will need when we go to 11 a side.

Droylsden next week and a chance to test ourselves against the best team in the division and if we play like we did today then there is no reason why we can't get a positive result.

Match Report U10 Blues 17-03-12

Reddish North End Blues 1-2 Hattersley - Man of the Match - Dylan Court

A tough game that was lost in the first half. Two quick goals gave Hattersley an early lead and we didn't seem to be up for it today. Hattersley are a good side and aren't afraid of making a challenge (fairly) and  I feel that this gave them the edge over us today. We have some excellent technical players who can play some super football at times but we do seem to be lacking a bit when it comes to getting stuck in and competing for the 50-50 balls.

We played a lot better in the second half and when Jake scored to make it 1-2 I thought we would get something out of the game but some near misses and good goalkeeping kept us out.

Dylan C just pipped Jake to man of the match, Dylan has been unwell so I was hoping he wouldn't have much to do but he made some great saves in the first half that kept us in the game.

Everyone is allowed an off day and its hard to be critical on the lads as they have been brilliant this season and Hattersley played some great stuff today and on the whole deserved their win.

Inter Macc next week and a chance to put this result behind us!

Rosehill Rovers 2-2 RNE Blues

Rosehill Rovers 1-4 RNE Blues - Man of the Match - Jack & Leighton

Two games again today and we have to be happy with four points against a very good Rosehill side.

I think the lads were still in bed during the first half of the first game, Oliver Shepley scored with a cool finish but that was the only bright spot in a below par 20 minutes and we were lucky to be only 2-1 behind. Harry scored with a great header from Kirk's cross to make it 2-2 and that is how the game stayed.

The second match was a hundred times better, The Rosehill keeper had a big kick on him but Jack and Leighton especially were first to every ball and they will both have sore heads in the morning! Kirk (2) and Harry (2) scored the goals but it was an excellent team performance. Special mention to Lewis who played in central midfield today and having played in defence all season did very well, it may take a bit of time to get used to playing there but I know he has the potential to become a good defensive midfielder if needed and it gives us another option.

Oliver Shepley did well also, Oliver hasn't had as much game time in recent weeks as some of the other lads but like Jake last week, he came off the bench and gave it everything, i'm struggling to pick a starting 7 at the moment as all the lads are playing some super football at the moment!

 John.

Match Report U10 Blues 25.2.12

Stockport Junior Blues 5-4 Reddish North End Blues

Stockport Junior Blues 2-4 Reddish North End Blues - Man of the Match - Leighton Darby

Two games, a win and a defeat but that was probably fair as both teams played their part in what was an excellent morning of football.

In the first game goals from Kirk (3) and Jake weren't enough to prevent only our 4th defeat of the season, we didn't play badly but perhaps SJB wanted it more, they seemed really fired up for the match and on the whole, deserved to win.

The lads knew they needed to win the second game and they produced a great performance. We went a goal down and I feared the worst as the lads looked tired from all the effort they put into the first game but Dylan B scored after a quick free kick from Harry to make it 1-1 at the break. We dominated the second half and further goals from Kirk (2) and Harry sealed the victory.

Kirk and Jack Darby (who made a last ditch tackle to prevent a goal) stood out in the first game and Leighton was brilliant in the second but Leighton gets man of the match overall for both the games. A special mention to Jake too who was unhappy about being sub in the first game but when he came on he showed what he can do and that is the attitude we need, we can sit on the sidelines and sulk or you can prove to me that you should be in the starting 7 and Jake certainly did the latter.

Competition for places is tough as the season is finishing so everyone needs to be at the top of their game as its now about getting the wins that can hopefully keep us 1st in the league, its a tough ask with some difficult games to come but we are more than capable of staying at the top.

18/02/12

Cheadle & Gatley Lions 2-5 Reddish North End Blues - Man of the Match - Dylan Court

A decent win in horrible conditions! Goals from Jack Darby (2), Harry (2) and Kirk giving us a good victory. We played some excellent football at times and although the result was never really in doubt there are a few things that we can work on.

The tackling wasn't the best today, i'm not sure if it had anything to do with the weather but we are going to play teams that are a lot more physical than Cheadle & Gatley were today so we need to improve on this in the coming weeks - I don't want us to turn into a dirty team but we do need to compete more, sticking a leg out and hoping for the best is not what we are about!

Dylan Court just pipped Harry and Jack to man of the match with some great saves on a fast, wet surface but everyone played their part as its easy for me stood there in my long coat, hat and gloves whilst the lads are freezing in their kits so well done to you all, hopefully the conditions will improve soon!!!!

 MATCH REPORT 28-1-12

Reddish North End 2-1 Inter Macc Raiders - Man of the Match - Everyone!

A great performance from the blues today against a very good Macc team. Kirk and Harry grabbed the goals but we needed a big team performance today and we certainly produced one!

The first half was the best we have played all season, the passing and movement was brilliant, the defenders were giving Dylan C more options when he had the ball and the throw ins/corners were tons better and not just hoofed to anybody!

Andy picked Dylan Bourke for Man of the Match but I can honestly say every single player played their part.  We had to withstand some heavy pressure from Macc in the second half but all of the lads dug in, worked their socks off and got the win they deserved.

Confidence is high so hopefully we can keep going and get a few more points on the board.

REDDISH NORTH END BLUES 8-3 NEW MILLS NORTH - MAN OF THE MATCH - OLIVER SHEPLEY

Plenty of goals from the Blues today (Kirk 3, Dylan B 2, Oliver, Harry & an OG) yet whilst we seem to have no problem scoring, defending has become a bit of a concern of late.  I am not just singling out the two guys at the back either because we need to defend as a team  - all of the midfield were good going forward today but not so good when it came to helping out the defence!

Oliver was man of the match, took his goal well and it's hard to be too critical on the rest of the lads when we score 8! We do need to be more disciplined and organized though, i'd much rather a 3-0 solid win than an 8-3 goal fest!!!!

A tough game awaits next week so we will need to be at our best.

RNE U10's BLUES XMAS TOURNAMENT @ CURZON ASHTON FC 29/12/11

As we haven't played much football over the last month or so we decided to enter a 5 - a - side tournament at Curzon Ashton.

We were put in a tough group alongside Cheshire Boys, Reddish Vulcans & FC Sports so we knew we would have to be at our best.

The first game, against Cheshire Boys wasn't going to plan and we were 0-1 down at half time and not playing very well.  The second half was much better, we created plenty of chances and with two minutes to go Dylan B fired home from close range to make the score 1-1.

The second match was against Reddish Vulcans and the boys produced an excellent performance, good passing and tracking back with Harry Sellwood scoring the only goal of the game with a cool finish under pressure to give us a 1-0 win.

The last group game was against FC Sports and as Cheshire Boys had just beaten Vulcans we knew we were already guaranteed second place in the group.  Maybe the Semi-Finals were already on the boys' mind as we started very slowly and we were again 0-1 down at half time.  Luckily we came to life in the 2nd half, Dylan B equalised with a neat, right foot finish and then a lovely solo run from Harry gave us a 2-1 victory with only 10 seconds left on the clock!

The Semi-Final was against a team called IFDA (I have been told it was Wigan Athletics academy so we were always up against it.)  After a goal less first half, we went a goal down and it looked like we were heading out of the competition as our opposition were passing the ball about extremely well and they were keeping our attacking players very quiet..................then with two minutes left, James cleared the ball from his own half, their keeper misjudged it and it trickled over the line to give us an unlikely draw!!!!

We lost on penalties 2-3 but that doesn't matter, the boys' played brilliantly in horrible conditions and there is no shame in losing to such strong opposition.

A big well done to Dylan C, Lewis, Dylan B, James, Harry & Kirk.

MATCH REPORT 3-12-11 U 10 BLUES

REDDISH NORTH END BLUES 1-1 CHEADLE & GATLEY LIONS - MAN OF THE MATCH - DYLAN BOURKE

A tough game today and overall a draw was probably a fair result. I don't know whether the boys' confidence has been knocked after last weeks defeat but the passing game and quick movement that we usually have was missing a little today.

Jake scored the goal, following in after the goalkeeper parried but we didn't create many clear cut chances today so that is something we can work on.

A good display but we can be better for sure, starting with a difficult game at Stockport Junior Blues next week!

26/11/2011 Home v Droylsden.

MATCH REPORT 26/11/11 U10 BLUES

RNE BLUES 0-5 DROYLSDEN PUMAS - MAN OF THE MATCH - DYLAN COURT

Not the best day for the blues, out-fought and out-worked by a very good Droylsden side. Although we didn't play great, we were only 1-0 down at HT and I was hoping for a better performance in the second half and maybe get back into the game but it never happened.

Leighton, Lewis and Dylan C were left exposed time and again by the midfield not tracking back and all of the lads were guilty of hoofing the ball anywhere when they should be taking a touch and looking for the simple pass (Like we did in training on Wednesday!!!)

We can blame it on players missing but we have a squad that should be capable of at least putting up a decent fight but we panicked today and Droylsden took advantage.

Anyway, Cheadle & Gatley next week and I expect a massive improvement!!!!!

19/11/2011 Away v FC Bluestar.

FC BLUESTAR 0-6 REDDISH NORTH END BLUES -  MAN OF THE MATCH - LEWIS WHITING

A good, solid display from RNE this morning, six decent goals and plenty of chances created. We started a bit slowly but were awarded a penalty when a Bluestar player handballed in the area, up stepped Leighton and I believe Bluestar are still looking for the ball as it was blasted miles over!!!

That didn't affect us though and we went in at half time 2 up, Lewis scoring from close range and a cross from Dylan that missed everyone and flew into the net. The second half was like the first, Kirk got in on the act, scoring 3, and Dylan B got his second of the game with a neat, left foot finish.

A good performance today lads but we need to be a lot better next week when Droylsden come to our place!

12/11/2011 Away v Inter Macc Raiders.

INTER MACC RAIDERS 2-1 RNE BLUES - MAN OF THE MATCH - DYLAN BOURKE

A tough game today against a very strong passing side who play football the right way. Kirk put us a goal up with a neat finish but Macc equalized just before half time when their striker was left unmarked to slot home.

Although Macc had most of the ball, I felt we had the better, clear cut chances but our finishing let us down a bit today and their goalkeeper was in great form. Macc scored the winner with 2 minutes to go to give us only our second defeat of the season.

Dylan Bourke Man of the Match, I always let the lads pick MOM and they are usually right!

Unlucky boys, it was a close game and hopefully we will bounce back next week and pick up a win.

 John - Blues.

05/11/2011 Away v New Mills North.

MATCH REPORT - BLUES U10S Boys

NEW MILLS NORTH 3-7 REDDISH NORTH END BLUES - MAN OF THE MATCH - JACK DARBY

A funny game today, we scored plenty of goals (Jack Darby 3, Kirk 2, Dylan & Jake) but if i'm being honest the scoreline flattered us a bit.

We were 4-1 up at halftime but like so many times this season the lads seemed to switch off and a quick double from New Mills after the break gave us a bit of a scare. Basic errors in defence and midfield cost us today, all three goals that New Mills scored were avoidable but its hard to be critical when the lads scored seven.

Jack Darby man of the match for the second week in a row.

Inter Macc next week and if we make the same defensive errors next week we will get turned over!

 John

29/10/2011 Home v Hattersley.

MATCH REPORT 29/10/11

REDDISH NORTH END BLUES 3-0 HATTERSLEY JUNIOR ACES - MAN OF THE MATCH - JACK DARBY

At last, a clean sheet! The first half was a bit scrappy, we went in 1-0 up after another goal from Kirk but we were second best to the ball for most of the half so I wasn't overly impressed with the boys at half time!

The second half was probably the best we have played this season. The passing was superb, we won the headers in the middle of the pitch and two further goals from Jack Darby (one with his head again!) sealed the win.

All seven lads could have been man of the match they were that impressive but Jack just nicked it for his goals.

Well played lads and lets see if we can keep this up, if we play as a team, tackle hard and pass the ball we are very difficult to beat!

REDDISH NORTH END U10'S

 HOME MATCH

 15/10/11

REDDISH NORTH END BLUES 3-1 ROSEHILL ROVERS - MAN OF THE MATCH - DYLAN COURT

A fantastic result against a team that was unbeaten before today! Kirk was again on fire, scoring all three goals but I was delighted with the way the lads played as a team and all worked their socks off! I was especially pleased with the boys' heading today, Leighton, Lewis, Dylan B and Jack Darby especially won nearly every header from the Rosehill goalkeepers' kick outs and when we do this we are keeping the ball in there half which is where we want to be.

Dylan Court was MOM, although he didn't have a lot to do (courtesy of excellent defending from Leighton & Lewis) what he did do was excellent. Good handling & kicking and and excellent point blank save in the first half when we were 1-0 up.

08/10/2011 Home v Stockport Junior Blues.

Home Match v  Stockport Junior Blues

Reddish North End Blues 6-1 SJB North - Man of the Match - Kirk Broomhead

Another strong performance from the Blues and a lot better than last week! We were 3-0 up at half time with goals from Kirk (2) and Dylan and then Kirk bagged another 2 after the break with Jack Darby scoring too.

Kirk was man of the match, scoring four goals but I am especially pleased with his awareness and playing with his head up because when he plays like this he is unstoppable and the SJB defence struggled to keep up with him today!

Four wins on the trot now but let's not get carried away, SJB had a few players missing today and we let another soft goal in and we are yet to have a clean sheet this season which is a bit of a concern (bearing in mind we won the Signol tournament in the summer without conceding a goal all day) so that is something we must work on.

Rosehill next week and they are unbeaten so we have to be at our very best to get a positive result.

John - Blues.

01/10/2011 Home v FC Bluestar Cosmos.

REDDISH NORTH END BLUES 7-3 FC BLUESTAR COSMOS - Man of the Match - Kirk Broomhead

A strange day for the Blues, we scored plenty of goals but the passing and teamwork that we showed last week was nowhere to be seen. We were 5-1 up at half-time but the lads seemed to switch off after that and as a result we let in some sloppy goals.

Man of the Match was a close call between Kirk and Jack Darby with Kirk getting it after bagging a hat-trick (Jack 2, Oliver S & Jake scored the others.) It was another win but the lads need to treat every game with the same amount of respect and effort and not think that the game is won before kick off which I think was the case today.

It's three wins on the trot now so things are going well but we will keep pushing the lads and getting the best out of them as I know they can play a lot better than they did today.

 John - Blues

24/09/2011 Away v Cheadle & Gatley lions / panthers.

Cheadle & Gatley Lions 1-3 Reddish North End Blues - Man of the Match - Leighton

A great performance this morning from the Blues and probably our best of the season so far. Jack Darby scored another header to put us one up and then a nice move between Jack & Kirk was finished off by Dylan Bourke to make it 2-0 at half time.

Kirk then hit the post with a cracking effort just before he got the third with a cool finish after some great build up play from Jake.

We let a soft goal in just at the end but that won't take the shine off a good win! I was particularly pleased with the defenders, Lewis and Leighton who kept it simple with nice, easy passes when they had time yet they weren't afraid to put their foot through the ball when needs be!

17/09/2011 Home v New Mills.

Reddish North End Blues 6-1 New Mills North - Man of the Match - Jake Atkins

A great performance from the blues and good to see we have remembered where the net is! Jack Darby scored the first from close range and although New Mills equalized, Jake scored virtually straight from kick off to put us 2-1 ahead at half time.

The second half was very one sided, Lewis scored a beauty from long range to make it 3-1 and then a couple from Kirk and a header from Ethan (the smallest player in our squad) finished the day off.

The boys played really well, great passing and heading with plenty of chances created. It was good to see different scorers and the lads seemed to enjoy themselves a lot today (although that is usually the case when we win!)

John - Blues

 10/09/2011 Away v Droylsden Juniors.

DROYLSDEN A 3-2 RNE BLUES - Man of the match - Dylan Bourke (chosen by Ben Coppinger!!!)

A tough start for the Blues against a very strong Droylsden side. We took the lead when Jake finished at the second attempt after a nice through ball from Kirk but quickly went 2-1 down with a soft goal to equalize and a well worked second from Droylsden. Kirk scored after a great cross from Jack Darby to make it 2-2 at half-time although if we are being honest we were second best for most of the half!

The second half was quite even, with Jake going close a couple of times but Droylsden scored a late winner which their play deserved.

The boys should take the positives out of today and not let this result affect the rest of the season, we lost 0-4 here three weeks ago so its a massive improvement!

We need to work harder and track back as well as helping Kirk up front when we attack. Droylsden had a very attacking midfield and we struggled to cope with them today.

23 more games to go! John Bourke (Manager RNE Blues)
