MATCH REPORT U10 YELLOWS 21-4-12

Reddish North End Yellows 4-0 FC Bluestar - Man of the Match - Everyone

Well done to the yellows today, that was a good performance and a well deserved win.

A good effort from everyone and some great goals, we tried to play the right way again with plenty of passing and lots of effort which as John says was missing mid week. Man of the match today was for everyone, I think it was a good end from all of you and gives us loads to build on in the coming months, we can look forward to a great season in the 11 aside format. See you all Wednesday

MATCH REPORT U10 YELLOWS 31-3-12

Droylsden 3-3 Reddish North End Yellows - Man of the Match - George Hibbs

A Very good performance from the yellows today, lots of commitment and some great passing.

2-0 up at HT with 2 good goals from MOM George Hibbs was justified, but Droylsden came back well to make it 3-2. We could have easily given up but we certainly did not and showed great character to equalise with a goal from Jason (inspired substitution from the coach) and the game ended 3-3. Very very good today lads - well done!

MATCH REPORT - U10 YELLOWS 24-03-12

Inter Macc 1-0 Reddish North End Yellows - Man of the Match - Sam Buckley

Another good performance today, I thought  we played some of the best football for a while. Well done to everyone for a huge effort, how we lost I don't know.

Great game from MOM Sammy who played very well and was solid at the back. Good to get an 11 aside game in too, it will be a huge learning curve next season for the lads and to get some games in now will be a big bonus to us - try and stay for them as it will be a big benefit to all to see what football is really all about !!

Cheers. Andy

MATCH REPORT - U10 YELLOWS 17-3-12

RNE YELLOWS 0-5 HATTERSLEY - MAN OF THE MATCH - JACK WELSBY

A Good performance from the lads today even though we didn't wake up for the first 10mins.

We are putting in a lot of effort again but I think there was an invisible shield in front of their goals today. Loads of shots but loads of deflections and blocks. Well done to MOM Jack who just pipped James to it who I thought put in a good game too.

Everyone got some minutes and no one moaned at me so thanks lads and look forward to next week.

Andy

Rosehill 3-0 RNE Yellows

Rosehill 6-1 RNE Yellows

Another good couple of games for us today, we lost both games pretty heavily but had loads of positives in the matches.

We will continue to play in the correct style, and that is by passing the ball and keeping it on the ground. If we lose games the only reason we do lose is that the lads are not as good as the opposition - it really is as simple as that. The style of football is NOT to blame - the lads need to improve and that is where I will try my best. I have played football at a fair level and I am completely convinced that the best teams play with the ball on the deck - never do you get a top side who just boom it from the keeper up.  I am quite happy to continue in this manner, the lads are 9 years old and if this is drummed into them now it will hold them in good stead for the future. If they are trying to do the right thing but making mistakes so be it.

Please do not be despondent about losing games at this age, there is nothing I would love more than to win every match but you can only work with what we have and to be honest we have struggled recently against some good opposition. But we continue to do the right things. Other coaches comment every week how well we pass ( or try to lol ) and that is a nice to hear. Its up to me to try and improve us and I certainly will and hope you all support us.

Anyway rant over and onto the good bits. Great performance from Sammy at the back - he won every 50/50 and looked up and tried to pass as much as he could and his cover play was great too. First game ended 3-0 and second was 6-1, Jake scored and well done to him too today, he really put in a effort trying to help us out this week. I thought Coxy was superb today too, he put in as good a performance as he has played this year. It does come down to hard work and effort as well and I pointed out to the lads at half time in the first game that quite a few of us didn't even look like they had been playing. We cannot just stroll around thinking the games will come to us, we need to put in 100% effort and work each game. And pass it on the deck !

MATCH REPORT U10 YELLOWS 25.2.12

Stockport Junior Blues 6-1 Reddish North End Yellows

Stockport Junior Blues 4-2 Reddish North End Yellows - Man of the Match - Damien

Not the best of days for us today but I did think the effort was there for all to see. 6-1 in the first game was a bit harsh as we had plenty of the ball 2nd half and did ok.

2nd game we were ahead but just fell short at the end and lost the game 4-2.. Well done still though, we have plenty of positives to take from the matches and I am sure we can improve and get some results.

Well done to our goalscorer James and very well done to Man of the Match Damien who again was superb in the nets. Plenty of football for everyone today and some really good performances, particularly George Cox who hasn't had much game time but came on today and played very well.

Andy

Cheadle & Gatley Panthers 2-0 Reddish North End Yellows - Man of the Match - George Hibbs

Well done from me today lads, it really was hard today in the conditions. We played very well again and I thought the effort put in by you was a credit to you all. Man of the match was George Hibbs who didn't stop running all morning. We really are not far off, we missed our captain James today and were again unlucky with a couple of bad breaks.

I thought Damien was outstanding again but everyone played their part and didn't give up. Very sorry to the 2 lads who didn't get a game, that was because we thought we were having another match at the end but it got cancelled due to everyone being cold and wet. I would certainly have given them a run out if I would have known and will be aware of that in future. I also think it maybe worth mentioning if the lads could try and stay for the 3rd game as it is important and we are a squad.

 Cheers

Andy

Reddish North End Yellows 0-1 New Mills South - Man of the Match - Sam Buckley

After a fantastic performance by the Blues in the first game I really hoped for a similar performance from the yellows. Whilst it wasn't a bad performance it was not our best either. We should have again won the match, I felt we were the better team but again couldn't quite get the ball over the line.

It was good to see we tried to play again but wasn't to be. Sammy at the back had a good game and was our Man of the Match.

John and I have spoken and we feel it very detrimental to the team to be trying to play with 4 subs ( 5 when Dylan is back) - its not about the quality of the players on the line rather more its confusing the guys who are playing - I almost had to switch every player to another position some time during the match which is plainly wrong. I am trying to get them playing in a pattern, but to do that we have to have fixed positions for the lads to learn, not just a mishmash and hoping they can just play. We will switch the subs around each week, I have a starting 7 which I have to have but the 4 or 5 subs will be switched each week so I only have 2.

Please understand this is not a favourite thing or a win at all costs nonsense, its just to try and manage the lads in a way which will improve their play and understanding. The subs will most certainly be considered on merit alone and if I feel they have worked their way into a position I have no problems in changing it - it would be great if and when that happens. As always there will always be an extra game and the 3 who have missed out will play the whole of that match. If anyone wants to have a chat regards this please give me a call on 07976660430 or 01613679901 and I will answer any queries.

REDDISH NORTH END YELLOWS 0-1 NEW MILLS SOUTH - MAN OF THE MATCH - MICHAEL WALKER

Another great game of football from the yellows today, I don't like making excuses about being unlucky but today we certainly were very unlucky. We dominated the game from start to almost finish and had numerous chances that were harder to miss but hey you know how it goes lads.

I am looking more at the way you are listening and learning, its such a great compliment when opposing coaches comment on how we try and play the right way and that the matches against us are the most enjoyable to watch and be involved in. I may have contributed to the goal by having to take Michael off as he was struggling a bit but it had to be done and unfortunately they got a winner.

Well done though to all of you, it was difficult to pick a Man of the Match as I thought every one of you played very well, even though some of you had to play in unfamiliar positions. No one moaned so thanks for that too. Well done lads and see you Wednesday.

Andy

MATCH REPORT 3/12/11 U 10 YELLOWS

REDDISH NORTH END YELLOWS 3-2 CHEADLE & GATLEY PANTHERS - MAN OF THE MATCH - MORGAN PARKES

Well done today to the yellows with a superb comeback to win it 3-2. We were very unfortunate to be 1 down at half time as we were the better team for sure. What was great to see was even after going 2 down no heads went down and there was no blame game. We just got on with it.

Well done again to the lads who were subbed, no moaning or groaning and the same to the subs who didn't start. 2 goals from our captain James and 1 from MOM Morgan gave us a well deserved victory.

Good to see us trying to pass it again, the difference when we do that is plain to see and we will continue to get better. We are the form side at the moment so lets keep on working at it and sticking together as a team.

 MATCH REPORT - U10 YELLOWS 26/11/11

RNE YELLOWS 3-3 DROYLSDEN PANTHERS - MAN OF THE MATCH - JAMES LANIGAN

A great performance from the Yellows today with lots of effort mixed in with some great passing. Its good to see the lads trying to pass the ball (not always at the right times mind) but it does make us play some exciting stuff.

Dylan and Sammy at the back did really well and have obviously listened and were trying to take the ball off the keeper (not with 1 minute left though lads - even I've got limits!) but that is the way we are playing.

Super performance from our MOM James (2 goals and Jack W with the other), but he was supported by all the other lads who also gave it their all. No complaints from anybody on the bench which is great to see, I can only pick 7 but to see all 3 subs come on and commit to the game 100% when asked is brilliant.

Thanks lads I really enjoyed the game today and see you all Wednesday.

 Andy

19/11/2011 Away v FC Bluestar Rockets.

FC BLUESTAR ROCKETS 2-3 REDDISH NORTH END YELLOWS - MAN OF THE MATCH - MICHAEL WALKER

Well onto today and a great return after last weekends disappointment. I spoke with all the lads before the game to and tried to explain my ideas on football and how we should try and play. I have been coaching us now for a month or 2 and wanted to be sure how I wanted to do things and now I have decided. I am a firm believer in the passing game and a certain style of play and will be trying my best to instill this in them from now on - the earlier the better.

We will be passing from the back to the front via the keeper and keeping long balls to a minimum. It will take a huge effort on all our behalf's, parents included as there will be lots of mistakes and kids will be gutted when individual mistakes costs us, but I can assure all parents none of the team will ever be criticized by me for trying to pass it, hopefully you know that I will always try and encourage them. It may take longer than people realize but to get a team playing in the right way can only be good for the lads in their individual developments over time.

We have got a great little group whom I know can play given the right advice. It did show a bit today as we tried very hard to pass it, and also to try and recover the ball if we lost it. Kids regularly " forget " they need to get the ball back as quick as possible if we lose it and today after telling them it was amazing to see how the responded by putting tackles early and not just waiting for it to "pop back"

Well done today to all of you, gritty performance and a well deserved win. By the way even the Bluestar manager commented how good it was to see a team trying to pass it and thought we did very well. Well done Michael on a MOM performance and to our goal scorers Sammy, James and Jason.

12/11/2011 Away v Inter Macc Falcons.

INTER MACC FALCONS 4-3 RNE YELLOWS - MAN OF THE MATCH - GEORGE HIBBS

Well another disappointing result but loads of positives can be taken from the game today. I think we again, first half especially, put in lots of effort and we were in control of the match.

A couple of errors in the second half were punished and we lost the game to a superb header from Inter that won the match.

Lets not get too downbeat about it as there were some great performances today, in particular Damien, George and Sam were solid at the back and a super debut from Jason up front makes me feel a good result is just around the corner. Lets keep at it and keep improving and enjoying the games. A goal from Jack Welsby and 2 from Jason would have been enough on another day.

 Andy.

MATCH REPORTS YELLOWS U10's

NEW MILLS SOUTH 1-1 REDDISH NORTH END YELLOWS - MAN OF THE MATCH - JACK WELSBY

Well what a performance today. When we talk about effort and the effect it has on a game when everybody pulls together and gives 100% was clear today.

A fantastic game to watch, it had everybody totally engaged and I think we could have nicked it but a draw was a fair result as New Mills played their part too. I am not going to pick out any individuals for special mention as I feel you all played very well and contributed to what was a terrific match. Again I could have picked any one from 8 for MOM but chose Jack Welsby for giving it his all and making some great runs. Lets carry on like that next week and we can be sure of getting a few wins under our belts.

 Well done lads

29/10/2011 Home v Hattersley.

REDDISH NORTH END YELLOWS 1-3 HATTERSLEY JUNIOR BRILLIANTS - MAN OF THE MATCH - GEORGE HIBBS

A frustrating day today, we had the chances to get something out of the game but it just didn't happen for us! George Hibbs grabbed the goal and also hit the cross bar and Sam Buckley came close on a couple of occasions.

Two of the three goals we conceded were poor, the yellows need to learn that all three midfielders can't bomb forward when we attack because they left Dylan and Michael (George Cox in the second half) defending against four Hattersley attacking players and they had no chance.

As I tell both teams, Midfield is the hardest position on the pitch as I expect double the effort from the midfielders than I do the rest of the team because I expect them to help out up front and defend when needs be. The midfield didn't track back today and it cost us.

On the positive side, at least we created more chances today so things are improving!

15/10/2011 Home v Rose Hill.

REDDISH NORTH END YELLOWS 0-3 ROSEHILL ROVERS (WANDERERS) - MAN OF THE MATCH - DAMIEN

The yellows struggled today, missing 5 players we were always up against it. Great performances from Damien & Michael but we need to be more aware and organized if we are to turn round this poor run of results.

We need a settled side but this is proving difficult when so many players are unavailable, its no coincidence that the Blues have won 5 in a row (with exactly the same team every week) and the Yellows are finding it tough at the moment.

Anyway, not to worry lads, we will see you at training on Wednesday and see what we can do!

 Cheers

 John

08/10/2011 Home v Stockport Junior Blues.

Reddish North End Yellows 0-3 SJB South - Man of the Match - Michael Walker

Not so good today from the yellows. The first half we just didn't turn up and we paid for that. We have to learn that in all games we need to have full commitment from the start of each match and today we didn't. Something to do with the weather ? An improvement 2nd half but not enough to turn it around and they scored again. I thought Damien had a great game in our goals and Man of the Match Michael at the back was excellent too.

We will improve lads but we need to have that mindset that we want to win and we are not just there for a kick around. I am away now on Holiday for a week so see you a week Wednesday and good luck on Saturday. I will have my laptop with me to check out the results ( and the MOM )

 Andy - Yellows.

01/10/2011 Home v FC Bluestar Rockets.

REDDISH NORTH END YELLOWS 6-2 FC BLUESTAR ROCKETS - Man of the Match - Oliver Cash

What a difference a week makes. Great performance today with the lads doing everything we asked of them, tackling, passing, looking up and moving as a team and not as individuals. We played a similar team to the Blues but looked comfortable throughout.

Really enjoyed watching with some great efforts from all the team, but one shining example of commitment was Oliver Cash today. He came on and showed some great energy and effort and capped off a super game with a well deserved goal and a MOM performance.

A good effort today buts lets not carried away lads, we need the same stuff next week and need to follow this one up with another winning performance next week. Lets make this something to build on. Well done

 Andy - Yellows

24/09/2011 Away v Cheadle & Gatley lions / panthers.

Cheadle & Gatley Panthers 5-1 Reddish North End Yellows - Man of the Match - Damien

Well the less said about today's performance the better. We need to be much aware that attacking is not the only part of playing football. We need to try and understand that if 5 players run forward and the ball comes back we will probably concede. I am going to make it a much more settled side now with a starting 7 and a couple of subs. Chopping and changing the team every few minutes just puts confusion in the lads minds and they don't know where they should be playing as 1 minute they are centre forward next full back.

It really doesn't work and I have found that out. I'm new to this coaching and was advised to stick to a team and subs but I tried to do it so all play but it clearly does not work. All lads will be fully involved in the team and we try and have an extra game so anyone not playing in the first match will get a full game later on. Its tough but its the only way forward. Its not a win at all costs philosophy but more to do with teaching the lads the positional sense and it cannot be done if they are changing positions all the time.

Well done today by the way to MOM Damien who was superb in our goal. Onwards and upwards and we will be much better and more organized next week. Cheers lads, I still enjoyed it.

17/09/2011 Home v New Mills.

Reddish North End Yellows 1-0 New Mills South - Man of the Match - Dylan Madden

Well another great performance from the yellows today and our first win of the season. 0-0 at HT and after such a dominant first half it had me thinking we might never score, loads of chances but not quite. Super performance from the our MOM Dylan Madden who alongside Michael at the back looked very solid and never gave New Mills a chance. And we headed the ball too !!

2nd half and much the same until a goal from captain James, who with Jack Welsby in the middle gave another impressive performance in midfield. Very well done to George who played centre forward for the first time and did very well.

We need to keep on working very hard and these results will keep on coming. As I keep on saying work hard, get the ball, look up and PASS. Superb today lads and well done to all. I understand not all lads will get the same game time but its really difficult sometimes when games are very tight to get everyone on for the same time. That's just football and I hope the lads will see that as a challenge to improve as I am a fair person and will do the managers job based on merit and will give all a fair crack when I can. Being part of a squad is very important and I will do my best to keep all happy. Bring on the Cheadle and Gatley Lions !

 Andy - Yellows

10/09/2011 Away v Droylsden Juniors.

DROYLSDEN B 2-1 RNE YELLOWS - Man of the match - James Lanigan.

Well you talk about being thrown in at the deep end. The boys were playing against one of the best teams in the league in Droylsden and were 2 down at half time. Most teams would have folded but not RNE, led by the captain and M.O.M James we fought back well in 2nd half and I feel were very unfortunate not to get at least a draw. A great overall start with some nice passing and tackling and I am sure if we play half as well next week we will take our first points.

Well done to the lads and I'm already looking forward to the New Mills game next week. Bring it on !

 Andy Welsby (Manager RNE Yellows)
