Welcome to the U13’s Reds
The U12 Reds team were born in 2015 due to an over-subscription of players from Steve Conways 'Green' team. Most of the more-developed players moved with Steve, leaving behind a team full of commitment, some excellent individual qualities but perhaps a lack of confidence and as you can imagine, a dispirited feeling among those who remained.
To put things in perspective, they were identified as a 'developing' team and duly registered in the Manchester Respect League, a league that focuses on growth, development and respect for the players, coaches, parents and referees.
Coaches Ryan Hallworth and Ben Brooks, tasked with instilling confidence and bringing out some of the qualities that the lads had within them - as well as establishing a team culture, found that the league's approach suited everybody; and within a few games (and lots of goals conceded), the team started to find their feet (in more ways than one!).
The immense pride and support felt by the coaches and parents in particular, all of whom shouldered the players through this difficult time, was rewarded when the team won the Manchester Respect League Foundation Cup on the last day of the season! It really was an amazing journey and every single player, parent and guardian contributed.
This season we look to further develop the team despite one or two losses but we are a small, proud and committed group so I expect to build on the success of last year - not bad for a 'developing' team eh?
