Home v Brendon Bees
Result - Reddish North End 1 Brendon Bees 3 (Friendly game arranged)
Team coach (James) views on the game:
With our scheduled league
game being postponed I arranged a friendly with Brendon Bees. We have had two
close run league games with them this season and today's encounter followed
suit, a useful workout for all the boys, plenty of chances for both sides, and
some good football.
Although we were without three regular players, Reddish should have gone in
front after Charlotte was fouled in the area, but Michael's penalty was saved,
and the Bees started to get more possession after this and made it difficult for
our inexperienced defence. They went close a couple of times before taking the
lead, and right at the end of the half they got a penalty after a foul. However,
this chance also went begging, the Bees player blasting well wide.
In the second half Reddish started to play some better football, with more
energy, commitment and composure, although they went 2 down fairly early on
after another breakaway left their player 1-on-1 with Callum. Despite some
better attacking play and some good chances created by Reddish, we continued to
remain vulnerable to counter-attacks, and from another one, a blatant foul saw
Bees get another penalty, which they put away for a 3-0 lead.
Almost straight away Michael atoned for his earlier miss by finishing well and
Reddish continued to create, a couple of brave stops from the Bees goalie
denying us, and some great corners from Michael caused pandemonium although as
has happened before this season, the players did not get on the end of them. The
Bees also had a couple of great chances but some determined defending kept them
out.
So all in all a respectable effort from Reddish all things considered and many
of the team can be pleased with their efforts today. Our next match is after
Easter, at home to 3D Dynamoes on March 29th.
