Match Report: Having reached the quarter final of the cup for the second season running, RNE are away to Lady Bridge County; a team who are third in the 1^st Division, as well as current cup winners. On a beautiful morning, both teams look up for the game. In the first ten minutes there is little to choose from. Both sides go close, with RNE, through Brandon hitting the post. RNE look to use the wings and make good progress. No clear chances made.

RNE midfield fails to meet a high ball through the middle. With the ball taken cleanly and fierce shot sees Lady Bridge take the lead. In a ‘strange 10 minutes’ and with clinical finishing Lady Bridge make it 3 – 0. Not a true reflection of the game. Lady Bridge soon make it 4 -0. A fierce shot is parried by Dom, but trickles over the line. Can RNE get back into the game?

RNE team stay focussed and continued good play is rewarded with a goal. Sheff plays a quick ball to Brandon who lobs the advancing keeper. 4 – 1.

The lads remain positive as the second half gets going. Good football from both teams. RNE build from the back. Haden in an advancing role. Samuel and Jack on the wings seeing plenty of ball.  Pressure tells. John scores from close range. 4 – 2. In and even game, the defence stay firm. Dom is reading the game well and deals with numerous through balls, bravely at advancing strikers feet on a number of occasions. RNE are rewarded with a third. From a corner, the lose ball is turned in by Samuel. 4 – 3. Lady Bridge are on the defence with all behind the ball. Time runs out. A good game of football. Lesson learnt. RNE can compete well against teams in the first division. Well done lads
