This re-arranged games see the two promoted sides from the 2006/07 season play each other for the first time in the 2nd Division. Once again, the spring day gives little rest bite to players and parents from the biting winter breeze.
RNE start promising with good possession, with several half chances going wide. Poynton A quick on the break a secure an early lead. A long diagonal pass sees a fierce shot parried well by Dom, though a Poynton player reacts first to make it 1 – 0.

RNE immediately counter. Sustained pressures sees several good saves from the Poynton keeper. RNE win a free kick. Sheff takes and hits the bar. Little response from Poynton, though a number of lng shots go wide.
Possession and good football is rewarded with an equaliser. A low shot from Brandon breaks  finds the corner of the net. 1 – 1. With 5 minutes to go in the half,  good work on the right from Jack and Mike release Brandon. 2 – 1 to RNE…. A rewarding lead at half time.

The start of the second half sees both sides go close. Josh and John come on from Jack and Gricy. A call for a penalty from Poynton is waved away. A saving tackle from Woody and cleared by Tom.
A long ball from Matthew releases Josh. A quick pass from Brandon releases Sheff who makes it 3 – 1 RNE.
RNE dominating with limited treat from Poynton. Hayden, Matthew Woody and Tom clearing all. Brandon takes his chances well and score two quick goals. 5 – 1 RNE. Footballs the winner today. 

Tireless effort in the middle see Mike break o n the left. Samuel (returning to the side) looks to glance home. No touch, but Mikes cross finds the bottom corner. 6 – 1 RNE.
Brandon takes a break which sees Hayden move to lead the line. Shaun returns to right back. 

Poynton look for a consolation. Shaun makes two great tackles and any threat is snubbed out. Hayden, full or running is rewarded with a goal. A deft touch make it 7 – 1. With RNE scoring at will, Sheff is released by a quick interchange between Mike and Josh. 8 – 1 RNE.
A great game of football with all the team contributing fantastically. Well played.
